Global Education Working Group

The ACFID Global Education Working Group works to enhance the focus on and quality of global education within the Australian development and Australian education sectors. A key focus for the group over the next 12 months will be enhancing the place of global education within the new national Australian schools curriculum.

Working Group co-convenors:

Rod Yule - World Vision Australia

Peter Grzic - Oxfam Australia

The functions of the Working Group include:
  1. Knowledge sharing and collaboration
    • Facilitating sharing of inter-agency knowledge and technical expertise
    • Information sharing on education activities that could inform the sector
    • Joint collaboration in initiating training, workshops, conferences and other forums that contribute to up-skilling/informing the sector
    • The group will in these ways be both a resource for those working within education already, and the sector as a whole
  2. Advocacy and Policy
    • Joint collaboration on advocacy and policy will be a priority in order to enhance the place of global education within AusAID, the Australian curriculum and the policies and practices of the various state education authorities.
    • Advocacy and policy engagement will include concerted action on:
      • Ensuring the significance of global education knowledge, skills and values in the Australian curriculum
      • Ensuring the ongoing role of global education in AusAID
Where possible and appropriate the group will engage in advocacy opportunities regarding the role of global education in the Australian community.
