Inside ACFID
ACFID Structure
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee acts as the governing body of ACFID in between Council meetings. The Executive Committee meets at least four times each year to provide guidance on the direction of ACFID as well as to oversee ACFID's operations and financial affairs including regular monitoring and evaluation of progress towards the strategic objectives outlined in this strategic plan. Its Finance and Audit Sub-committee and Membership Sub-committee provide specialist advice to each meeting of the Executive Committee.
ACFID Secretariat
The Canberra-based ACFID Secretariat provides information, training, advisory and representation services for members. It manages ACFID’s relationships with government and other stakeholders and seeks to influence aid policy and public perceptions about development issues. ACFID's governance practices are intended to provide a good practice model for the sector.
Committees
The Development Practice Committee (DPC), the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee (APPC) and the Humanitarian Reference Group (HRG) are appointed by the ACFID Executive Committee and provide advice and recommendations to the Executive Committee to assist ACFID in meeting its strategic objectives.
Member Working Groups
Organised and run by ACFID members with facilitation by the Secretariat, these working groups cooperate on issues of special interest to their agencies. They also contribute to ACFID policy development.
Council
The annual ACFID Council meeting includes the AGM and provides a forum where all members meet to debate current issues related to aid and development, establish policy principles for ACFID, review ACFID's operations and elect the Executive Committee and Office Bearers.
ACFID Forums
Organised by the ACFID Secretariat, a variety of forums provide members with opportunities to exchange views and provide input into ACFID policy positions. They also help to develop networks amongst member organisations. They include CEOs forums, regular Member Information Forums and ad hoc forums on specific issues.
