Launch of Australian Government aid strategy to improve poor people's access to financial services

Bob McMullan, Parlianmentary Secretary for International Development Assistance, yesterday launched a strategy to 'help poor people improve their way of life through increased access to crucial financial services, increasingly being seen as important to reducing poverty and achieving the Millennium Development Goals'.

Financial Services for the Poor: A strategy for the Australian aid program 2010-15 will guide the Government's 'increasing efforts to ensure poor people can access financial services, giving them opportunities that have the potential to transform their lives'.
