The Code of Conduct Committee has the following responsibilities:

Approve applications and maintain an up-to-date list of signatories to the ACFID Code of Conduct.

Investigate any complaint received according to the complaints handling procedures set out in the Code, make a determination on such complaint and notify the relevant bodies.

Initiate inquiries into potential breaches of the Code received according to the Code of Conduct Committee inquiry protocol.

Monitor adherence to the minimum reporting standards necessary for a signatory organisation to maintain its compliance with the Code of Conduct, and report to ACFID and AusAID the failure of any signatory to adhere to these requirements.

In cooperation with ACFID Executive Committee, promote the Code of Conduct to agencies, donors, and the wider public.

Advise ACFID Council and Executive Committee on training and other activities necessary to encourage signatories to meet the standards of governance, management and public accountability required under the Code of Conduct, and consider advice from ACFID Executive on such matters.

Provide advice to ACFID Council and Executive Committee on areas in which the Code and Guidance Document need to be strengthened or developed further. Consider and reflect on advice from the Executive Committee on such matters, and collaborate with them in making necessary amendments/additions to the Code, Guidance Document or the operational guidelines.

Provide advice to ACFID Council and Executive Committee in relation to the appropriate fees to be charged to signatory agencies. Receive and consider advice from the Executive Committee on these matters, noting that the fee structure and budget remain the final responsibility of the Executive Committee of ACFID.

Publish an annual report of the activities of the Code of Conduct Committee, including an outline of the cases brought before it during the year. The names of agencies against which alleged breaches were dismissed shall not be disclosed. The report to be presented annually at ACFID Council.
