'Microphilanthropy' campaign makes it easy for Americans using travel websites to donate to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria
| | 9 March 2010 | | | UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and former US President Bill Clinton last week launched a campaign to help Americans do something to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The campaign, MASSIVEGOOD, will allow users of various travel websites to donate $2 every time they pay for a flight, rental car or hotel room.
Dr Jorge Bermudez of Unitaid, the international charity that is to receive the donations, says it is estimated the plan could result in donations of between $US600 million to $US1 billion a year within four years.
