Human Resources Task Group

Task Group Convenor:

Jan Jackson, ChildFund Australia

The Human Resources Task Group (HRTG) provides a forum for human resources (HR) managers working in the humanitarian aid and development sector. The HRTG initiated the Development and Humanitarian Assistance Project. The Project aims to provide a competency framework to underpin work in the development and humanitarian assistance sector. The proposed competency framework will provide:

  • a description of skills and knowledge recommended to prepare workers entering the development and humanitarian assistance sector;
  • a foundation for training delivery to enhance consistency of training outcomes;
  • a basis for assessment of workers' existing skills and knowledge to enable training to target identified gaps; and
  • a basis for recognition of competence angainst nationally endorsed units of competency.

Other important HR areas of work that the HRTG is involved in are:

  • recruitment
  • OH&S
  • performance management
  • learning and development.
